Why You Should Know About Author Rank

Hint: It Will Make Your Business More Money

I’ll admit it. I have an Elance profile. And I’m not alone. Many writers toil away in relative obscurity on the freelance site; churning out hundreds of words for (literally) pennies. Is it ideal? No. Is it necessary? Sometimes.

But, thanks to Google’s insistence on quality writing over quantity keywords, I have a feeling (and I’m not alone) that churning out bargain basement copy to earn a few bucks will go the way of the sweatshop.

Two words that will change the way (and why) you hire a freelance writer: Author. Rank.

The tides are turning. No more will we have to say, “Thank you sir, may I have another,” to write for clients that don’t pay enough to fill up the car with gas. The great and powerful Google has spoken, and quality content (versus random word counts and keywords-keywords-keywords) is again back in vogue.

Copyblogger explains it better. Read this to learn the how, why, and finally (!) of Google’s firm stance on ranking quality content higher than keyword quantity for quantities sake.
